Rachel Dawer

Associate Creative Director/Writer, ice cream innovator

Backstory:

A native of Dallas, Rachel graduated from The Texas Creative program at The University of Texas. After starting her career at The Richards Group writing for Motel 6, H-E-B, Central Market, and others, she decided to make the move to Chicago to work at We Are Unlimited & DDB, where she added McDonald’s to her growing resume. Soon realizing that she didn’t love midwestern winters, she moved back to Texas to work at Plot Twist.

Professional Not-So-Humble Brags:

Rachel is the recipient of two Radio Mercury Awards and is the youngest writer ever to win the Best in Show. She has also garnered trophies from the London International Awards, New York Festivals, and the American Advertising Federation. She was recognized as one of Ad2Dallas’s “32 under 32,” and is developing her jury chops as a first-round Radio Mercury judge.

Interesting Cocktail Party Tidbits:

Loves making ice cream, especially in atypical flavors like beet & goat cheese or sweet corn & blueberry. Wanderlust is her superpower: She has visited 27 foreign countries and 31 US states. Once shot a commercial on remote, desolate St. Paul Island in the Bering Sea. She crossed the thousands of miles from the Alaskan mainland in a plane so small the passengers had to be weighed before boarding so as not to exceed the craft’s limit. Anything for the client. Forced herself to like olives, which she had always despised, as a New Year’s resolution. It took her three years, but now she loves them.

Best plot twist (so far):

When she asked her friends if she should buy an ice cream maker, they answered with a resounding “no.” But—plot twist!—she didn’t listen to them. She now delivers custom-concocted flavors to her Plot Twist teammates, much to their delight.
